Jardines maternales/kindergarten cost

Does anyone know how much these tend to cost? We're looking at full-time care for a four year old... Any suggestions for finding high quality ones? Thanks.
 
I think they start from a 1000 pesos a month. You are looking for one in the barrio you live in right? Try using "jardin de infantes" as keywords as well when you are googling.

Thanks. I saw a huge block of land on a map labeled as a "jardin de infantes." Are some of them very large? Is there a big price difference between different centers?
 
Jardin maternal means day care.

Kindergarten means jardin de infantes. I think jardin de infantes starts at the age of 3.

You can look for the newspaper (or commercial website) of your prospective neigbourhood. I dont know how to help you with the references you might want to have.
 
I don't think there is a huge difference between different centers in the same barrio. I have only seen two myself and neither of them were very big.

Thanks Roxana. Do you know if the jardins de infantes are full school-day programs, or only part-day? I'm assuming the jardin maternal are full-day.
 
Perhaps you can make a preselection of jardines de infantes now (to keep the vacante or space) and, when you are here, in a couple of days you will visit the schools, you will see when the kids get in and out of the school, you will be able to watch the teachers at the classes, chat to the parents, and then you will be able to make the final decision.
 
Oops, I just read your message after I posted mine! Lets do this, you choose a list of 3 or 5 places, near your house or your work, I will help you with the phone calls in Spanish, you decide a set of questions to make.
