Hey Everyone,

Im posting this because one week ago I was frantically checking this forum, craigslist, etc. and so I thought Id give back a little. If you need a job, consider working at a restaurant here (not many places care if you dont have papers). The pay is pretty decent, there are tips and its definitely enough to get by here (rent, food, some fun stuff). I work at a fancy Chinese cuisine restaurant in Puerto Madryn, so if you have restaurant experience, and are willing to work hard (provide good service), and have a cool experience working side by side with and forming friendships with Argentinians, check out Royal China on the web for more info and contact info.

Good luck job hunting everyone :)

In response to this thread...I was just wondering- Anyone have any insight to what is a typical salary here for a waitressing/bartending job??

I've been working as a waitress/bartender for 10+ years in the States, but my Argentine friends who have family members in the restaurant business always warned me against it, saying its not a good job like it is in the US. For example, at my restaurant job in the states I get paid less than $3 an hr (that is not a typo) BUT I expect a 20% tip...which allows me to live decently and support myself down here for a few months...
Then I also have a couple of friends who work as bartenders here and seem to love it (although I think its more for the fact they get to hang out at a bar and get paid rather than the money they make).

Basically I'm just wondering if anyone really does have any have any experience working as a server/bartender here? Do you actually get tips? (I was always under the impression that Argentines don't like to tip) Do you get paid amonthly or daily wage? Are people here just as rude as they are in New York/New Jersey?

Any information would be appreciated :)
