the prices have gone up....but literally beyond inflation and when there is an event like tonight (all blacks vs pumas) they DONT have happy hour (normal plus higher prices)
really? when theres a night you're sure to have a lot of clientel, you hike uo the prices???? I've worked at loads of bars and pubs and we do the opposite when theres an occasion, and the place is full and business is out of control!
we bought papa fritas for 30pesos and received about 10 fries!
ya...casa bar, you suck!
no wonder your for sale and the place is always empty these days!

SUPPLY meet DEMAND. DEMAND meet SUPPLY.

Perhaps it was a cash grab, because business isn't so strong. Then again, it was a Saturday night, and I don't know if they have Happy Hour on Saturdays.

Don't know.

Lemme guess. You haven't worked at may bars/pubs in Argentina.

Haha! nope! i wouldn't dare work at a bar in Argentina, with the way tips work here! but I am sure that if they did have specials on an important game day, they would have been much busier! in general that place has been super dead the last 2 years, and some of their prices are pretty ridiculous!

I am not familiar with CASABAR, but having owned a business in Argentina (thank goodness I closed it), I can certainly sympathize with the business owner, and being a client of retail businesses I know how upsetting it can be to feel ripped off and treated poorly. Here you have to be a genious and a magician to be able to maintain a profitable business and happy customers. For example, the taxes here businesses pay are unbelieveable, and your average pizza shop pays the same percentage of taxes as IBM. Here's a short list - IVA 21%, Ingresos Brutos 3%, Ganancias 35%, Impuesto al debito / credito, 1,2%, rent, accountant, utilities, supplies, salaries, social security taxes, PLUS you have to pay bribes to the municipal inspectors if you don't want to get closed down every so often. This is why things cost SO much in Argentina, I know the government likes to blame the "empresarios" and "almacenero" but trust me, I owned a small retail business here, it's extremely difficult to operate.

definitely agree that it would be extremely hard to own your own business in Argentina, my fiancee does, and i see the struggles with inflation, etc.
but in a consumers perspective, i was disappointed with the food and prices!
there are other places that up their prices but always have the same quality!
i hate when the prices go up and the quality goes down!

That bar is such a missed opportunity. If it were better, it would be constantly full (like Milion a few blocks away, or even Frank's in Palermo). We went there once, expecting something more elegant because of the decor/ sign that you can see from the street... it was loud eurodisco top 40 music (too loud to talk, but the place was virtually empty), overpriced drinks, and a really badly done colored light show which could have looked beautiful with the bones/ architecture/ moldings of the place. We actually left, half a glass into the overpriced bottle of wine, because to stick it out would have been to suffer.

At that time, a bottle of the cheapest wine out on the terrace at the Park Hyatt Palacio Duhau was actually cheaper than one at Casa Bar! I have no idea what kind of clientele they are trying to attract with those prices and that decor/ music here in BA. The music and lightshow belonged in a superclub in an industrial area while the building, location, pretty sign at the door and the prices really suggested something else.

And yes, getting involved in business in almost any way here is totally impossible, I agree with all on that point...

My thoughts exactly! especially when compared to million!!! million has an AMAZING happy hour, til 9pm. 2 for 1 bottles of beer and great cocktails!
the place is beautiful and such a great vibe!
