While I am all-too familiar with the wonderful weekend Ferrias of Buenos Aires, I wasn't able to get all of my holiday shopping finished and am wondering if people have suggestions of other artesan markets that operate during the week. I am looking for relatively small, low-cost gifts to bring back for friends and family in the US. Many thanks! Sanda

Hmm. The problem is that almost everything is cheaper and of higher quality in the US, so it'd probably serve you better to just do your holiday shopping once you get back! That said, a basket of unique Argentine food gifts might be appreciated: rosa mosqueta jam (or shampoo, I love mine), pan dulce from Valenti, miel cremosa, dulce de leche, the usual wines and Havanna alfajores. Hausbrot (the organic bakery) has a great selection of alfajores, cookies and crackers (their grisines con sesamo y queso are the shiz), and cake-y things like pan dulce, budines, and stollen.
