May not be useful info now, but there was a recall on those older t plugs since the wire typically breaks where it enters the plug due to bending. Try pushing it back in and put some tape around the wire and plug so that it won't move. That's what I did in Argentina until I got back to the States. The design is now different and makes them less prone to breaking due to strain.
There are also a couple of videos on Youtube for fixing it if you have a soldering iron handy. You might take it to one of the many fix it shops there where they can do this.
The connector fault is extremely common & it's 98% probable that it can be fixed. I would suggest that you don't throw it away if you are getting a new one.
