Macri: The 11 Of December There Will Be One Dollar

I'm wondering what exactly he means by there being "one dollar" on December 11...does this mean no blue market rate and "official" rate? He doesn't specify what the value of the dollar will be, so that's confusing.

He can't specify what the value of the dollar will be...he doesn't know. Him specifying a value right now would be kinda scary because then he'd be fixing the price, just like Cristina has been, according to what he thinks it should be.

I'd wait for the end of the week until we have the names of 6 economy ministers and perhaps statements from them. More details may come out tomorrow since Macri's meeting with CFK tonight.

Thoughts on what this might look like? Will it happen?

Honestly, too early to say.

You can have two sides argue it to death if you want.

People against him will say that the sky is going to fall December 12th.

People for him will say that we're one step away from being Switzerland.

Neither is going to be correct because we don't even have the most basic information like the status of reserves in Banco Central, real inflation numbers, etc.

What do you mean there will be one dollar? What will happen to all those nice and cute people who sing "cambio, cambio, dollar cambio" on Florida? They have families to feed!

Macri stated that first he needs to know How many dollars are in the Central Bank...? that may take weeks.... B)

He can't do a thing with the dollar if Vanoli doesn't go. The only way to boot Vanoli is through Congress, and there will be significant opposition from FVP lawmakers.

And even if he does go, you have those futures contracts which makes any devaluation before March very difficult.

It looks like a floating USDARS might be a bit far off...
