mailing stuff to u.s.

i've run across a couple of etsy sites that are vendors located in argentina, and they ship their products to the u.s. for not so much money.

i was wondering if they use the local argentine postal service ships to the u.s.? has anyone shipped any small packages from b.a. to the u.s.? what services have you used and was was the cost?

I usually always use Fedex for anything I send to the US but it's not cheap - I think 160 pesos or so (can't remember) - it arrives in 2 days.
