Another major quake hits Chile near the city of Temuco Chile . It is 7.2 on the richter sale and very strong aftershocks have been felt in Bariloche and San Martin De Los Andes.

2010 was the worst year ever recorded for major earthquakes lets hope that 2011 is not worse.
 
I'm a big fan of tons of earthquakes under 6.0. That relieves the stress along faults without completely destroying everything for a few hundred miles. (Few Hundred Miles x ~1.6 = distance in kilometers.)

7.2 is pretty damned powerful, but there are two kinds of earthquakes. Rollers & Shakers. Let's hope that all of the biggies this year are Rollers.
