I look forwards to when Cristina et all get the same treatment.

As opposed to other more civilised lands.
Meanwhile, yesterday in an unnamed country up north:
Cheney Honoured with Bust in Capitol
You don't have to be a Bush/Cheney apologist to call bs on this one. Is your point that scumbags abound everywhere? Check. Or: hey gang, here's some irony! Check.

But to try to draw equivalency between what everyone (with maybe one exception) concedes is a rotten-to-the core, historically-corrupt entire political system, with bad acts commited by individuals in a time-limited administration? This is comparing pomegranates to fire hydrants. There are 237 Democrats in Congress who can file charges if they believe Cheney is guilty of crimes, and the Europeans are being vocal about it, but just as we keep telling our esteemed member, legal guilt comes from a "guilty" verdict.

So we can get it out of our systems: Dick Cheney is a scumbag! There, we all feel better and can return to topic now.

No absolutely not. The point is not Dick Cheney at all.

Read the article: it does not so much excoriate Cheney as it does the fact that there is an entire political system (both up there and down here) that not only fails to prosecute heinous criminals, but rather honours them with busts (Cheney) or senate seats (Menem) without any of your 237 Democrats (most of whom themselves are likewise guilty of supporting illegal wars and torture programmes) so much as raising the slightest protest. Quite to the contrary: at Cheney's side at the ceremony was one Democratic Senator/VP Joe Biden, saying how much he likes Dick Cheney.

In a normal world, people like Cheney, Menem, Obama... would be shunned by society as the criminals they are. Instead they are feted.

@EdRooney

We can agree to disagree on whether there is equivalence, but I appreciate you taking the time to explain your reasoning. The article, however, was very much an advocacy opinion piece and far from objective reporting. Doesn't necessarily make it wrong, but I wouldn't take all its assertions as gospel.

Menem and Cavallo paid brives to change the labor law.
CFK should go to jail for....????
Periodismo para todos doesn't count.
I forgot, political prosecution!
