President Milei tells audience of US conservatives that he wants to be the first to sign a free-trade deal with US President Donald Trump, but warns Argentina is "restricted" by Mercosur.

Free Trade Agreements with the US normally takes years to be approved by Congress and implemented . Perhaps beyond Milei's current Presidency.

For someone who adores Trump, Milei is incredibly stupid - Trump has been very clear for the past decade, no new FTAs; not sure why he doesn't get this...

Exactly. Trump hates free trade agreements. He wants manufacturing to return to the US. He is not interested in advancing the economies of other nations. He imposed tariffs on Argentine aluminum.
