Mystery pneumonia kills two and infects six in Argentina

I have a weird pneumonia like symptoms after traveling to Uruguay.
Its like a bad cough/fever that will not go away plus lots of flem.
The doc at the Aleman Hospital wouldn't do anything until Covid test was neg. I Did get a chest x-ray, nothing major obvious there: prescription was Panadol & ibuprofen + Acemuk to help bring the flem up . 20.000 Peso's later #wtf

After 3 weeks finally found a specialist in north B.A.
Any recommendations are welcome... :D

After 3 weeks with cough / fever I would be taking antibiotics. I know I shouldn't self-medicate, but I'm an engineer, a doctor's worst nightmare, and 3 weeks like that is a bit long for a viral infection). Farmacity don't like selling antibiotics without a prescription, but the other pharmacies will (they might lecture you on how this is the only time they'll sell them to you, and how you should take the full course, not just until you feel better). Advice on the forum is worth what you pay for it, of course.

If it is a viral pneumonia, that would not make much sense. Antibiotics don't kill viruses. Don't self-medicate. If you have a reason to go to a doctor, go to a doctor.

You should be extremely careful with pneumonia. The onset can be sudden. After oxygen level drops for several hours, you start suffocating.

You should be ready to go to the emergency room, stay there and insist on hospitalization.

Get one of these oxygen meters. Not that you should rely on it too much, but it can give you an additional reason to go to the hospital when you have doubts.

Thankyou.
They did check my oxygen levels at the hospital. They where excellent.
My chest x-ray shows nothing bad.

I have got my gf onto her Medical video doctor right now. They have prescribed Amoxidal duo 7 day antibiotic. Plus the Acemuk
I will still go to the respiratory specialist doctor next week.
