Does any one know what are the requirements to open an offshore account in Uruguay?
I'd really appreciate any info! Thanks,

Just a passport, its a core part of their countries legal identity to offer accounts to non Uruguayans.

However, I wonder if its seen as unpopular, perhaps some propaganda from those places that are harmed by it.

Let us know how you get on.

Best to check out the new banking regulations in Uruguay. It ain't gonna be the paradise it once was. More's the pity. Luck.

Several banks offer this in the Channel Islands and elsewhere - Jersey, Guernsey, etc. From memory 10,000 pounds is the minimum balance - but you get an international debit card (visa from memory)... Depends on whether something ''local'' or something *secure* is your number one priority I guess...

Thanks for the info!

In the end I got a reply from the HSBC in Montevideo.
Requirements:
Passport, certificado de domicilio, job references and some personal info.

I was told by a Uruguayan banker who is a friend you must now have residence in Uruguay.
