hey, i know there are threads about this, and i went through some of them but I didn't get a clear answer!
We are planning to try to get pregnant soon and I've never had obra sociale here, and now Ive been looking at some options. they all seem quite good but they all say we have to wait 2 months to get pregnant! boooo:( but on the positive note, i can still drink a few more beers til then!
im wondering from anyone who's had a baby or is far along, that can recommend me an excellent obra sociale! I'm hoping to at least start paper-work on monday!
thanks!

Good for you and great planning this in advance. OSDE 310 served me so well..great access to an English speaking obstetritian if I needed it I(didnt), very comprehensive regular antenatal checks and access to some impressive hospitals options for the birth including the Trinidad, Suiza, Los Arcos and Otamendi. I gave birth in the Suiza and my family (visiting) declared the suite was more like a hotel than a hospital _as well as fantastic help in breatfeeding they offer hairdressers, beauticians, newpapers, personalixed menus...baby and I were so happy there we didnt want to leave. This was 4.5 years ago so I'd check with all providers what hospital options they have as you want to have at least 2 you're comfortable with in case of no availability at the time..Otamendi for example is always very busy. No complaints on my part with OSDE service for the baby and the family care as a whole.

i am baby-less but can tell you that i belonged to aleman from 2003-2005 and again now and have always thought they were great. i have never had a problem and the opposite, whenever i want a specialist i just call them directly and get an appt immediately, used to be free, now for a massive 10 pesos a visit.

there are different plans- if you speak spanish you can just go in and the woman there will explain everything to you- i have her email address so pm me and i can pass it on. I am guessing others with babies will be more helpful but if i were gonna go al preggo here i would meet with each option in person to get all info.

drink up!

OSDE 310 has been wonderful and gives you lots of options for doctors as well as hospitals. I briefly had OSDE 210 (when I switched from work to personal insurance) and found many doctors didn't take it. I immediately switched back to 310. I'll be giving birth in either Trinidad or Mater Dei but all the big sanitorios/hospitals take it. Would highly recommend!

Double check on the waiting period though - I want to say mine was 12 months, not 2 months but it was a few years ago when I switched from Swiss to OSDE. I believe Galeno was 12 months as well when I had in a million years ago but it wasn't really a concern for me then so I didn't pay much attention.

We just had Baby last Tuesday, My wife gave birth at the Suizo Maternidad Hospital, and we have OSDE 410 health Plan, It covered everything, the Staff and Service at the Hospital was very professional, the Doctors were very professional too.!

I have OSDE 310, and my obstetrician attends births at both Trinidad Palermo and Suizo Argentina. I was on the fence until just recently, when my suegra informed me that Suizo Argentino has a unique service in which (if the parents sign a waiver), they set up a webcam in the nursery so that the new baby can be seen online via a link (you can only access it by entering very specific information, it's not like your baby will be seen by the entire world wide web!).

For your consideration (I believe this is the part of their website that she was referring to): http://www.cymsa.com...end/nursery.asp

That detail is what has pretty much convinced me that I want my son (who will be born in April) to be born there, especially considering how half of his relatives (aka - my entire side of the family) is a continent and an ocean away.

In any case, OSDE is a great obra social, great benefits, and very widely accepted!

thanks so much ladies! great to hear all the info:)
also I've never pre-planned anything in my life, thank god i have a responsible husband;)

oh, on the subject...does anyone know if you can only pick the name of your baby if its on the list is true? its seems absurd!

Yes, that's true. But you can petition to use a name not on the list if you can prove a reason for it (cultural reference, historical reference, etc).

Do doublecheck the waiting period on the insurance though when you sign up. Good luck!

We have the Hospital Aleman and it was great. They also accept you when you are already pregnant paying some extra. We hired it on the 8th months.
The hospital Aleman is targeted to foreigners.
