Are P.O. Boxes or something equivalent available in Buenos Aires? I won't have a permanent address for a bit, and while I could use a relative's address to have mail forwarded, I didn't want to impose too much on them. Having a PO Box would be much more convenient.

You could try asking about ”Poste Restante” mail hold at your correo argentino branch; they used to hold mail and it could be picked up by showing your ID.

Two options.

  1. Walk to Correo Argentino nearest Branch and ask if available and Cost
  2. Phone Correo Argentino and inquire.

Thank you everyone. Just planning ahead, this is for important regular mail that I need to have forwarded from the US such as IRS letters and benefits info from the VA. I'll check out the casillo idea.

For USG business, I'd set up US based POB. More expensive +/-USD120 but 100% reliable. You also receive free daily front envelope scan to your email and they hold it forever, no matter how much mail you receive.
