Place to stay in Santiago?

I poked around on the forum but didn't really see any recommendations for hotels in Santiago.

I'm going for a long weekend with my boyfriend and am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a nice place to stay? I don't want to spend more than $100 USD per night (and really ideally want to spend less than that) but I would like something more than a hostel. Seems like there are many apart-hotels in that category.

Any advice is appreciated!

I stayed 3 nights at the RQ suites in the downtown area. Clean, professional studios, nothing opulent but good value for money. Hotel staff doesn't really speak english. $75/night - studio. Cheaper for just a regular hotel room.

I can recommend the Chil Hotel in Providencia, I stayed there last fall twice and had a very pleasant experience with good service. I paid about $70 a night for a room. Here's the website:
