So finally made it down to BA. Staying in the Recoleta area. What are some recommended things in the area?

Bars for a good beer? Good carniceria? Good bakery? Good cleaners/laundry service? Good local restaurants? etc.....

Of course will be trying to see many other barrios, but due to work will spend quite a bit of time near here. Hope to catch up with some of you in the area.

Rodi Bar.
Open all day, really good typical BA food, not expensive.

Also, depending on what you call "recoleta", Parilla Pena,

and, not all that far from Recoleta, quintessential Argentine Pizza experience-
El Cuartito- Talcahuano y Paraguay.
Order a fuggazetta, a faina, and a glass of moscato, eat it standing up at the counter. Or, hell, get a piece of muzz and a beer. Its like going back in time.

I know, all you youngsters like Filo.

damn kids. get off my lawn.

Milion, of course. Pay US prices for watery cocktails, and watch beautiful people. But the building is pretty darn nice.

You want wacky authenticity, go to Gong on fridays for Pablo. Unbelievable Hefner style 70's disco, down in a basement, with crazy drag queens and hipsters dancing til 9am. They say it starts at midnight, but people dont start showing up til after 2.

If you like italian you should try Parolaccia.

Parolaccia's OK, but really a pretty mediocre chain. Bella Italia Café (República Árabe Siria 3285) in Palermo's really good for lunch. I like Guido at Cerviño 3943 a lot for dinner. Both walking distance from Recoleta.
