Hi there. I have a question for the forum. I was wondering what I can do to get a refill of my medication.
I made the mistake of leaving this until the last moment and I will have no more meds left come Friday,
and I tried going to pharmacies and they all said I need a prescription.

The medication is Venlafaxine (Venlafaxina) an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety med. I went to the public hospital
today in Bario Notre and they wouldn't let me see a doctor because "they will not give you a prescription as you
need an appointment". I had spoken to friends and they all said that even if pay the 300 pesos to go to the
German Hospital they likely wont write me a prescription and it will be money wasted.

I'm now starting to really worry what to do as the side effects of discontinuation is very dangerous: from
anxiety attacks, drastic mood swings, and well, worse...

My friends and a friend of mine's mom is a psychologist said I'm crazy if I think I can find a doctor willing
to write me a prescription, even if I am all out and the serious potential that it carries from not having the meds.

I'm planning on trying to get a psychiatrist (something I don't know how to do, would also love any help) that I
can discuss the medication treatment on a regular basis with, but until then, as it takes time I assume, I need
to get these meds, and ASAP.

I'm going to go to one of the public hospitals that have a 24 hour Psychiatrist on call tomorrow morning, and I
guess my question is what do I do if I can't get a prescription? Will the German hospital be more willing to?
I have the bottles, the pharmacy record from home, and my medical charts from my doctors, I'm just really worried

Thank you all for the help!

Split your remaining pills to buy yourself more time. I have the name and phone number of an English speaking psychiatrist who works privately in Palermo and if you see her and explain your situation maybe she could prescribe for you.
Here regular doctors are extremely reluctant to prescribe psychotropic meds. You have to see a psychiatrist. PM me if you want her contact info.

Thanks for the response! That's what I started tonight, I noticed and many people said that regular GPs wouldn't write the prescriptions, and that I need to see a specialist. I'm ok with that, I just need to get referred or whatever the process is in Argentina.

Take your US prescripción bottle to a neigboorhood farmacy. Make sure is not part of a big chain and ask. I ve gotin anti anxiety pills hére somewhat regularly ( I use them to sleep on long trips) this way
