Question About Zona Oeste

Best option is to use a remis company as they charge a fix rate. Taxi fares depend on the time of the day....differ whether daytime or night. Uber???

There are 2 less expensive alternatives but may add up to 1-2 hrs to a one-way trip from Palermo depending where you are going in Zona Oeste. Regardless I avoid either of the following options if traveling before 9.00am and after 4.00pm any day of the week.

(1) suburban bus.....https://www.omnilineas.com.ar/buenos-aires/colectivos/
to closest train station to your destination and then a remis from that locality to specific address. There is usually a remis company located steps from every station.

(2) subway Linea D....transfer to Linea A...get off at Estacion Primera Junta. Train station...Caballito...is 2 blocks away. Or bus line from Palermo to Caballito which gets you to the 5000 block of Av. Rivadavia. Take the Sarmiento Train Line which services Zona Oeste. Cost effective is to get off at the closest station to your destination and then take a remis from that locality to address. I prefer always to get off at the Moron station (very busy) and take a remis from there. Ask the driver what is the fare to get you back directly to CABA. You may want to to use this option on your return trip.

I have no issue with taking the train during "low peak" hours. I have been doing so for many years. The trains on the Sarmiento Line were upgraded to a modern "fleet" about 5 years ago. The riders are mostly working class folks. I don't think a 1-hr ride is any more hazardous than being a passenger in a car which must traverse any highway/city streets to arrive in Zona Oeste.

Here you can check out taxi rates http://www.taxistavirtual.com.ar from Recoleta to Ituzaingo is about 450$ ( remember that city cabs will charge you the return rate as well )

I have a hot Argie female friend, whom I like very much but dont know well as yet. She quoted me 1150 $ last time she went from my home in Palermo to her home in Zona Oeste. Should I believe her? I was doubting her integrity, as it sounded too high. eg when I go to ezeiza from palermo, it costs me max 750 pesos.

If you take a cab in the city and go to province you pay double. Ezeiza is an exception and there are plenty of passengers they can pick up while at the airport, so I guess what she quoted is about right. In any case a remise car should be much cheaper i think.

By what means of transportation does she get to your place in Palermo? Regardless, [background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]it appears that i[/background]f she wants to continue being your guest you need work out a deal with a remis driver in your neighborhood for a discount based on frequency of trips.

Its a new female friend. Things are still being sorted.

but overall, this is the issue. She wants me to be a ""gentleman"" and show that I care for her by financing her taxis ( I dont have a car) and if I ask her to use public transport ( it shows, I dont care). So I am trying to sort this out.

What could be a good amount to offer a Remis driver per month for say 10 to-fro trips a month?

cos basis her figure it could be ( 10 to-fro trips) close to 23,000 $ ...and i think its just too much to waste on a damn taxi considering the issues with the world poverty.

A friend / girlfriend / date would never expect you to pay for her cabs. A gentleman would take the bus / remise / cab with her. I have only heard of men paying for cab rides when their companion is an escort. If this is the case, unless her service and rates are great, I would be looking for somebody in the city or somebody willing to come and go on her own as an adult. Sorry , I don't want to sound mean, but if this is a friend / girlfriend and not a service provider, it seems to me that she is taking advantage of you.

I dont mind at all, Nikad. You are a highly respected information provider here.

She gave me a big lecture of how its a tradition in Buenos Aires for men to drop the girls home/ arrange a taxi for her to take her home.

I told her the same.. "Damn it..take a bus" and she was "I can ..but it shows you dont care for me".

so in a way you are right...sounds like a exploitation.

I am v well to do and i can afford it but I rather not..cosidering the world poverty and my pledge to help as many people on the planet I can. So much waste of money in taxi..sounds disgusting to me.
