Remarkable silence

I've noticed that the more something is all over TV, the less it's talked about here. Saturation/fatigue aside, yanks aren't much soccer fans anyway.

As a British/English expat, yesterday was by far the most memorable day of my 11 years here - perhaps of my life.

That must have been an interesting one to view down here. As a Belgian later naturalized American I found the Belgium vs USA match gave me an odd feeling.

I'm wondering why there's been complete silence about the World Cup here. It's actually pretty remarkable that nobody has brought it up.
If you start a thread with an appropriate topic then people might respond. Many do not click to read the vague topic of this thread title so are not aware that your passion for the World Cup is the same as theirs.

I don't think "appropriateness" is the issue. The World Cup is one of the biggest events in the country where we all live, so it seems entirely appropriate for this forum. If the title didn't attract clicks, that's a fair criticism, but that's different from saying the topic itself wasn't appropriate.

I took my girlfriend to the opener, Mexico versus South Africa, I was mind blown how empty the bar was! Definitely different from American culture for the opening day of whatever sport.

I was back in the USA to see USA lose :(

However, now I am back, I have greatly enjoyed the Argentina games here!
