I haven't signed in here in a long time for same reasons as many others. But I came across the information that this Michael S. Smith fellow (who asked for helped on this forum) and his wife both met an untimely end not long ago.
This person was obviously struggling with a mental illness, perhaps with co-morbid substance abuse.
Good on those that helped him -- I wonder if anyone followed up? Apparently his mother joined this forum to try and figure out a way to send him money but people accused her of being a scammer too. She had no way to communicate with him before his death when he was in the hospital.
It’s sad that a U.S. citizen can be so disenfranchised that they end up moving here to live in poverty and end up dying an early death. Pretty much the worse outcome possible for moving to Argentina. I would imagine they were buried here if he had no family with money to fly their remains home. QEPD
