I'm considering taking a road trip with a couple friends in one or a couple of the provinces in Argentina. I've been in BA for a couple years, but I'm not so familiar with the rest of the country.

Our idea is to take a bus or fly to a part of the country and then rent a car for about a week from there and do some exploring.

Is there any particular route or part of the country that someone can recommend? Any places to avoid?

Any tips on renting a car ?

Thanks.

I will recommend a couple road trips to you that I have written about: 1) Ruta 40, http://southernconeg...road-trip.html and 2) the Andean Northwest, which I have covered in two separate entries: http://southernconeg...lta-part-1.html and http://southernconeg...ta-part-2.html Those aren't the only choices, but they're my favorites.

As far as renting a car, things can really fluctuate. Generally, I think, you can get a better deal from a local agency, but you need to certain of their road-service reliability in case something breaks down.

Fly to Salta, rent a car and go either North or South. Don't try to do both, way too much. The country is gorgeous. I can't say which is better, we've driven both, and loved both. You will have a great time.
We rented the car before leaving BsAs, searched for best buy and picked up car at airport.

They all work for me now - try again?
Still the same two problems.
I don't understand how they can work for you, because not only do I get "Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist.", but mouseover shows the ';' and '.' - perhaps your browser cuts superfluous signs off.
I have tried both Firefox and Chrome - neither worked.

I suggest you use the links from my post to open the pages and then copy the addresses from the opened pages.

The source also shows the ';' and '.'

1) Ruta 40, <a href='http://southernconeg...-road-trip.html;' class='External link' rel='http://southernconeg...lta-part-1.html' class='External link' rel='http://southernconeg...lta-part-2.html.' class='External link' rel='nofollow external'>http://southernconeg...part-2.html</a>

I can't explain the glitch, and the page no longer allows me to edit the original post, but try the following:
