Hello,

We are a French couple travelling by car for one year in the Americas, from the USA to Argentina. We are currently in Chile.

We wish to sell our car, a TOYOTA 4Runner, at the end of our trip. It will be available mid-August 2010, in Buenos Aires (or anywhere else in Argentina).

We bought the car in Virginia, USA, in July 2009. It was Toyota certified and we had it regularly revised every 5000 miles. It has been entirely reliable and we have had no mechanical problem of any sort so far. It is an excellent car for travelling in all South America!

Details:
Toyota 4Runner Limited V8, 4x4
2004
Silver
75 000 miles (currently, 68 000 miles)
Automatic, Gasoline
15 000 $

Photos available on request.

The price corresponds to its market value in the USA (edmunds.com), much under its market value in Argentina. The car is registered in Virginia, USA, and not nationalized in Argentina. This is not a problem for expats, as you will just have to cross the border every 6 months or so to get a temporary importation permit.

I take it you've never had to deal with Argentinian bureaucracy then?

hello Paul,

it will work for a EXPAT-EXPAT who have ONLY a turist visa here in Argentina. For all other EXPAT who have the residence or/and DNI it will not work less she/he will nationalize it in Argentina. Otherwise it could be that the are not coming back to Argentina with the car before it will be nationalized on the border ;)

Problem for nationalizing for a EXPAT is that she/he CAN'T DO this if it is not permitted by Migraciones within the initialization of the residence.
