Sending physical U.S. dollars to Argentina

I know it's probably on this site but would someone be so kind as to tell me the way to legally send physical US dollars to an expat in Argentina?

I am assuming you refer to sending money from the US.
The easiest way would be to touch base with any number of people who will do this for a small fee. You deposit the money (or transfer with PayPal/Zelle/etc) there, and pick it up here.
Cost should not exceed 2%, and is often less.

While the above is true, it may not be the answer to the question that was asked, as Retiredbanker askd specifically about the way to legally send physical US dollars to an expat in Argentina, unless he actually meant the legal way to transfer USD that could physically be picekd up (in USD) by an expat in Argentina.

Assuming that no one would use the US Mail, UPS or Fed Ex to send physical dollars to Argentina (even if ti's legal to do so), the only way I can think of to legally send physical dollars would be to have an individual carry them on their person. Of course any amount over $10K USD must be declared.

You can send $2999 three times a month using riamoneytransfer. The cost is $15 per transaction, which is only a half of one per cent. You have to send it from your bank account to get this low fee and have to specify to be picked up in dollars. Once the money arrives, the recipient has to call Argenper on corrientes to tell them they want dollars. The next day they can pick up the dollars.

As Ben says, if it's physical cash; you would probably have to travel with it, send with someone trustworthy, or find a specialist courier.

I'm curious as to what the actual procedure and implications are of transporting a large sum of money, above the 10k , and then simply declaring the rest, assuming that's the scenario here.

I suspect you would need to have a very thorough paper trail to present as evidence of the source/origin. And maybe even good reasons for why you are not just doing a wire transfer. Otherwise you could be running into potential confiscation/forfeiture and a ton of other problems.

The detailed info is probably on Google search somewhere, I'll have a look later and update this message if I have time.

Oh, and more info would be nice too. As, if you are only talking about a couple of Benjamin's, well, then this is all purely academic.

I doubt that anyone who chose the user name "Retiredbanker" would be so impricise, when asking about a way to "legally send physical dollars" to an expat not to mean actually sending physical dollars,as opposed to making any kind of electronic transfer, hence my reply.

PS2: As indicated in my previous answer, the only way I know of to "legally send physical dollars to an expat in Argentina" is to have another person physically carry them. I never assumed the "physical part" meant anything else.

I should have been more specific as I don't expect US currency to be mailed to Argentina but through a transfer agent in USA to a location in Argentina and receive actual dollars rather than pesos and without a deposit account in Argentina being necessary.

Because the place you’re sending the money from also matters, does it not?
And the US is a rather large place to assume someone would carry the money without specifying where from.
