I still think Massa and CFK have some sort of strange bedfellow deal going on behind the scenes.
I don't know how behind the scenes it is. I thought it was fairly obvioius they had reached "un acuerdo" when he returned to the fold in 2019. After all, he was her boy before he went indy and started his own party.

Massa joined the Justicialist Party back in 1990, he was director of ANSES, and then intendente of Tigre, and he was Cristina's Jefe de Gabinete in 2008-2009. It wasn't until 2013 that he jumped ship and founded that Frente Renovador. So him coming home to mama is hardly a surprise and he was richly rewarded by being made President of the Chamber of Deputies, rough equivalent of Speaker of the House in US terms.

Massa is a Beta with Alpha ambitions, but his miembro masculino just isn't quite big enough.

Jeez RP, I thought I had a scoop.

I'm not really sure what's going on here. There has been no announcement that Batakis was quitting. As recently as yesterday, she was in the USA haggling with the IMF on Argentina's behalf. It would seem very odd to be cutting her legs from under her like this while she was in the middle of such crucial negotiations.

Sergio Massa was the name of the day. Since early Wednesday, the rumors about his arrival at the cabinet did not stop and, at the end of the day, far from being minimized, they were enlarged: the tigresen is placed at the head of the Ministry of Economy, once Silvina Batakis arrives in the country. The maneuver, they clarify from the ruling party, could be accompanied by other modifications in the structure of the government that Massa would have put as a condition and that could involve movements in the Central Bank —currently led by Miguel Pesce— and in the AFIP , led by Mercedes Marcó del Pont , among other areas. It is necessary to know what place the now head of the Treasury Palace, Silvina Batakis , will occupy, which he took over a few weeks ago.

In all this turmoil, Massa said that he had not yet received any offer and agreed to "chat" with Alberto Fernández between Friday and Saturday. He also ruled out the versions that accounted for alleged economic projects, explaining that he has been "working in line with the BCRA and the Ministry of Economy."

To complete, Massa indicated: "when you have something to say or the government decides to announce something, IT WILL BE DONE THROUGH THE CORRESPONDING LANES."

Massa is the new Alberto. He's somebody the VP can manipulate to do her dirty deeds. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes her running mate at some future date.

I'm not sure about that. Alberto was always disposable, like kleenex.
Massa is more of a useful long-term bucellarius or spatharios.
