Hello:
My name is Roy Weidemann. I am a senior, very senior (83), retired from the health care industry. I was a marketing executive for a major pharmaceutical company, later formed a start up pharm company which we took public. I then started a medical education company, producing text books, training films and videos for medical schools and health care companies.
I currently live in a northern suburb of Chicago, but am planning a move to Argentina early next year, for at least two years, to write a couple of books, hopefully, do some volunteer work, and spend some time enjoying Argentina. Obviously a major challenge for an old codger. I do work out three times a week, am still active in the out-of-doors, fly-fishing, riding, and I expect to enjoy the milongas of BA, but certainly NOT until closing.
My first trip to Argentina was a fly fishing trip to Patagonia in 1991 and I have returned a dozen or more times since. I have friends in the San Martin/Junin de los Andes area and in Cordoba, whom I hope to visit between writing bouts.
I will be spending 6 months or more in BA, first, for a couple of months in a total immersion language school to improve my limited Spanish in order to be of some service as a volunteer in some useful capacity. I will probably spend 6 months or so in Cordoba before deciding on a place to settle.
I would like to be in touch with fellow expats, and look forward to meeting many of you in the near future.
