Sorry - another exchange rate thread...

I read this today:

Is there really this big of a discrepancy between the legal and black market rate? How does one "access" the black market for currency? Or is this something available only to businesses or very wealthy people?

Generally u access the black market by word of mouth. I would not recommend an expat unless he is really seasoned with certain practices, etc to try to get any deal on his own as chances are you will be scammed.

You would have to bring US dollars to exchange. Not a good idea given how common robberies are!

Or you just have to have a checkbook and write a check. Although it's definitely by recommendation and word of mouth for those places.

Check the local stores as well, the granja by me is offering 4.18 to the dollar.
