Sport and politics do not mix

As I said, people should be allowed to express their political views. The exception to this is where they incite violence. You can also of course, as someone else mentioned earlier, contractually forbid certain speach in an employment environment.

I'm just stating what the law is in most modern democracies, and with good reason. Certain fachista or communist regimes do of course have a much harsher standard and enforcement of speach; along the lines you are advocating for.

Cheers!

The fascists are those who wish to impose their point of views on others wink wink !!!!
Abortion was debated in the Argentinian senate and lost . Why now is it being promoted so violently to the argentinian public and the world ?

Sports and politics don’t mix? Really?
The words of every anthem are full of politics.

Her singing was horrible. It was a copy of the jazzed up way most US singers interpret the US National anthem at sports events. A pity to hear the beautiful Argentine national anthem distorted this way and very unfair to use the event to support abortion or any other controversial issue that divides people when they should be unified

The national anthems are nationalistic but are not promoting a specific politic stance . The argentinian senate ( a fully democratic process) debated abortion and have decided to not allow legalised by law abortion . You may not agree but surveys state that close to 50% of the argentinian people did and their voice and the senate must be respected . As stated on this forum if she was wearing a banner stating that the malvinas are argentinian would this be ok ? For those older expats in 2012 Argentina aired on television a pro malvinas olympic ad and this caused tremendous controversy even though at the olympic games of that year there were no banners nor individual protests . By the way over 80% of Argentinians are united on Malvinas and for many its of great national interest .The olympic committee were fuming over this ad and stated clearly that sports and politics should not mix . Now they have been strangely quiet about this appalling singer using Argentinas national anthem to promote abortion . How hipocritical of them !

I have to say, as an american citizen, when sports and politics mixed in 1968, I was proud of being an american- and awed at the courage of these guys. https://goo.gl/images/UWfUWH

While we may support some of the causes behind the political displays, I think they do more harm than good. They turn off people who want only to see the events and think that's not the right time or place , thus eroding support for the movement. They don't usually further the cause.

Proud of what that african americans used a sporting event to promote their idealogy. If everyone did this as you believe they have the right to do the complete spirit of the games is lost on humankind. Sports are not created for divisions but as means to unite people and countries.

A couple of months ago before the vote in the Senate, I went to see a play and at the end all the actresses took their bow wearing a colored handkerchief. It doesn't matter what the color was. It pissed me off because I thought, I paid to see a play, not be proselytized. I was paying them money, not the other way around.

Sports are not propagandic tools to further liberal and controversial causes. In the 1930s the Nazis tried to promote their idealogy that the aryans were a master race. This fell flat on their faces when the african american jessie owens won numerous gold medals at the Berlin olympics. Sports and the ultimate expression of this the olympic games should always be neutral of political opinion.
