I think the strike is a win for the government politically speaking. The union leaders made a bad decision in promoting this strike as being "anti-ganancias." This is how it's being portrayed across the Argentine media spectrum.
Only 11 percent of the population pays ganancias.* Thus, by making this protest about ganancias -- and not low salaries in general -- the union leaders have sent a very clear message to the other 89 percent (who aren't able to get to work today) about whose interests they represent.
