That's how I got to know Barcelona, my last city of residence before BsAs. I'd pick a metro station, go there, wander around for a bit until I got bored, find a bus stop, get on the first bus that came along and stay on it until it passed through a place that looked interesting. If I had time I'd repeat that until it was time to go home, then take the metro. I did however once end up in the middle of a shanty town, complete with camera, map and sunglasses
