Dear expats,

Is this a good time to travel to Venezuela with the blue/black rate at 1:100 (official 1:6) ?
I feel sorry for the people there. But maybe the expats should go and enjoy the good deals (if there is any) and help with the economy, and come back to Argentina when blue dollar hit 50 here :)

I heard Ceviche already packed to go there? Is that true?

Nice babes !!!... But according to a recent UN report, Venezuela has the second highest murder rate in the world !!!
Honduras tops the list. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/04/10/us-latam-crime-idUSBREA390IY20140410

Anyone see Jonathan Dimbleby doing his public school boy/old Etonian abroad routine on the BBC the other night? Did a travel program in Venezuela. Caracas looks like the ar3ehole of the universe, but parts of the coast and the interior looked incredible. Just not sure how safe it would be moving around independently?

I have heard from an Argentine friend who traveled to Caracas recently that if you are white or European appearing, you will likely be robbed by the police for your dollars. He was robbed at gunpoint by two policemen one evening (6ish) walking to the kiosco.I would stay the hell away from that place!

I was there a few years ago and 1) there was almost nothing to buy with your black market bolivares and 2) dangerous as hell! I'd rather go to Liberia now!

I was there in Caracas for a wedding and literally there were armed guards at the hotel, at the reception, traveling with the wedding party, etc. The bride (Venezuelan) asked us not to go anywhere alone due to security reasons. And even the concierge at the hotel said they had armed gunmen rob the guests in the lobby just a few months before we went.

No thanks.
