To Bus Or Not To Bus

I am due to take a trip to Buenos Aires from San Rafael on Saturday 4th May. Given what I am reading about the bus driver's strike and the chaos at Retiro, could someone tell me if this is media hype and that actually things are not as bad as they seem. Or would it be a better option to put my trip off until the strike is over? My concern is being able to get on a bus in San Rafael, but not being able to arrive in, or depart from Retiro. Thoughts and comments please.

See this. Friends of mine from Detroit went to Concordia, Entre Rios. On the way back, they were dumped outside the Retiro bus station, RIGHT IN THE FRONT OF VILLA 31, THE LARGEST SHANTY TOWN HERE. Luckily they were able to flag a cab and get the hell out of there.
