Travelling With Animals From Buenos Aires To Paraguay

Trying to figure out how to get to Paraguay with a dog (30kilos) and a cat.

Options I know I have:
1) Flying. About 500pp + the animals + documentation etc etc.
2) Renting a car - Looks like it would be around $900 to rent a car. Ouch.

Maybe Options:
3) Private driver? might be cheaper. But I don't know where to look.
4) Bus? No idea if this would work.
5) Hitch a ride?

Any thoughts? Has anybody done this?

Here is an link to the bus schedule and rates(around 550 pesos in Cama Suite PP), I would suspect you would be able to pay to have the Dog and Cat in the Luggage hold in carries on the Bus, but not sure, hopefully El Queso has some more insight on this. If the Bus doesn't work, you can try a private driver, I would look on MercadoLibre.com. Take this one they quoted 2,100 pesos to San Luis which is around 850km driving were as Asuncion is around 1,350, so maybe around 4,000 Pesos. Yeah, no job =(. Although it sounds like getting there is going to be pretty expensive. Stupid animals. =D
