Trip advice

A friend of mine is coming with his Peruvian wife to BA and wants to go to Lima with the bus
He has picked 2 routes to go to Peru
Route 1:
BA
Igazu
Asuncion
Santa Cruz
La Paz
Puno
Lima
or
BA
Bariloche (Perito Moreno)
Puerto Montt
Santiago
Iquique
Arequipa
Lima

I have been to all places besides Puno and I am leaning towards the second option as he is with his wife. If I was single and with a friend I would definitly pick number 1, because that trip is more fun
I have been calculating and I think that option 2 is about 10 to 15% more expensive, but that is not really a factor
Any advice? And please also say which places of the trip you have visited

Ahh, come on..... Route 1, how can one not see Iguazzu Falls (hope I spelt that correctly) Take the Bus the way you have planned it to Lake Titicaca, Then the boat. then the train to Cusco/Machu Picchu. Fly to Lima from Cusco....... (Santiago? Pales in comparison to BA and Cusco/M.P.) Dudester

The first trip goes to Igazu, why do you think that would be? And there is a reason why he does not go to Cuzco, because he has already been there
