Hey everyone,

To try and keep the story brief. Known my girlfriend for 10 years... we have been in an actual relationship though for about 9 months. We are trying to work out how I can stay in Argentina. There is the union civil which I believe we can then apply for residency. However it states you need to have been living together for 2 years:

How is this possible without coming in and out all the time and risk being banned for being a false tourist? I have never overstayed in Argentina or done anything against the law.

Also my girlfriend's ID is registered outside of CABA which sucks but I wonder how important that requirement is too because the online portal seems easier to use and I've heard people can do everything via a zoom call but I know they have another website per zone for her neighborhood. We are also hopping from airbnb month to month and don't reside at her address.

I was thinking of just taking the 1 year digital nomad visa to give me an extra year of time.

I also have a Mercosur passport but you need to have held it for 5 years, this won't be until 2028.

So is the 2 year living together actually a big deal or what's the situation?

You're confusing union civil with union convivencial, the first one is like marriage, the second one is the one you need, which requires 2 years of convivencia.

She can get a new DNI with address to CABA, it's easy.

For the union convivencial you'll need 2 argentinian witnesses, which can't be family, to swear during the appointment that you have been living together for at least 2 years, they should know both of you and have visited your current home.

My partner and I got the the union convivencial recentely, we have been coming and leaving the country since 2022 (he's british on tourist visa), they didn't have an issue with the visa runs as long as we were together, the witnesses were the key part to get it done.
