This might be a stupid question but I have to ask. I don't deal with US $ in my every day life but with everything being written and said for my past two visits to Argentina I came prepared. I went to the bank and converted € to US $ to take advantage of the blue rate to its fullest. I keep reading that the US $ bills should be unmarked. what do they mean? Are there banknotes that have a distinguished mark ? Can that mark be seen/detected with plain sight?
Although I have to say that € bills were also appreciated by the "cueva" and I think I saw an extra spark in his eyes when I changed the 500 € and 200€ notes.

i think it just means there should be no pen or marker marks on them, basically make sure they are fresh, perfect bills.

There are pens that are invisible with real usd and black with fake ones.
