Has anyone ever used one with a Mac that worked sufficiently? Not looking for incredible graphics, just an extra screen to run some basic software/email/etc. Thanks for sharing!

Macbook or desktop?
Macbook will handle at least one more display with a displayport > DVI. With a matrox dualhead2go or tripplehead2go you can add more.
With the desktop depends how many graphics cards.

Never tried it with USB.

Looking to use it with a Macbook pro.
Thanks Gpop, but I am looking for a portable one (that's good for travel), that more resembles a tablet/half of a laptop. I think those are typically USB powered.

here's some more:

I'm interested! Didn't know such a thing existed :)

Did it need special kexts to run on the mac? And what's the refresh rate like on it? (could you watch movies on it for example?)

Edit: oh wait, just realized you probably haven't received it yet! Let us know how it goes anyways, very interested to hear if it works cleanly on the mac.

If you have, or are looking for an excuse to buy, an iPad you can use it. Do a Google search for "use iPad as second monitor". I've never done it so can't say how well it works. (I think that you can do the same with an Android tablet.)
