I want to know what is charged at 0%, 15% extra, 50% extra when you use an Argentine CC abroad. I've read so many stories about surcharges, taxes, etc.

If my Argentine gf is staying in the UK and makes the following purchases in a month using her Argentine CC, how much would get taken out of her account back here at home?

1. supermarket goods, £50/$80

2. train season ticket, £500/$800

3. laptop computer £400/$650

4. hotel £300/$500

would all of these end up getting the 15% extra? Would some be liable for more?

thanks in advance...

My MIL just returned from a trip to St. Marten and she got 15% added on to everything she charged with her credit card. So if your girlfriend spent $2030, she will probably be charged an additional 15% or $304.50.

In theory, your girlfriend *could* get charged an ADDITIONAL 50% tax on the laptop purchase for the value over $300 (so 50% of $350 = $175). That was announced but as of yet, I haven't heard of anyone that has had that happen.
