USPS

So, it means that you were able to receive a SS check in Arg, from US and then cash it in BA?...Why were we talking (in a different post) about transfering retirement money from a US bank to BA, if that is possible? I'm confused now...
If that is correct, what is the best way to change the check in BA?

The BEST safest, only?way to receive your Retirement SSA check is via a direct deposit to a USA bank account .
You can then transfer via WU partial instalments for cash-pick-up, in pesos, in BA at WU facilities or franchises..At the Exchange rate of the day called CLL, close to the Blue rate.

Receiving SSA checks in Argentina via Argentina Mail Service, is an exercise in futility , even after the Pandemic.

If you do receive a USA bank check in dollars in BA, your bet bet is to a send photo to your USA bank via the mobile app for deposit.
Alternatively, mail it to your US Bank for deposit via UPS, FEDEX, etc for deposit $$$.

The UPS now is not receiving mail for Argentina , all letters/checks get returned to the IRS

How is the transfer done from your US bank to WU. Does WU have an online setup where you authorize them to withdraw the specified amount of money from your US bank, which they send to WU/BA?

As to your other question: Why were we talking (in a different post) about transferring retirement money from a US bank to BA, if that is possible? Yes, it is possible...
1. You can have a friend/relative initiate the transfer to you by paying cash at the WU office in the US and you pick cash here in pesos or similar entities.
2. Or you can initiate the transfer using a US credit card or debit card and pick up cash here in pesos at a WU outlet or similar entities.
3. Or if you open a local bank bank account you can do a bank to bank transfer using WU or similar entities.

For daily exchange rates I use this website....https://www.dolarhoy.com/
I think the daily exchange rate for Contado Con Liqui (CCL) correlates somewhat with the daily WU exchange rate shown on their website
for transfers to ARG.
The Blue Dollar "rate" can be negotiated with any cueva or whomever is interested buying your dollar bills which you have on hand here. The "compra" column corresponds to those wanting to sell dollars and the "venta" column corresponds to those wanting to buy dollars.

Please read the extensive data on file about WU transfers, otherwise enter[ https://www.westernunion.com/us/en/web/user/login and follow the steps for a transfer of funds to Argentina with a US Credit/Debit card for pick-up in pesos cash at WU in BA.
