Hey All!
It's my first post here :) Some friends of ours want to come visit us, but they have a child that will be 1 1/2 during the time they want to visit (June 2011). My questions:

1. Would you recommend it knowing what you know about BA?
2. If so, are there any activities that would be good for the child and parents?

Thanks everyone!

Absolutely! Argentina is very child-friendly. They won't get any of the sneers at bringing their child to a restaurant that they might get at home.

1.5 years is pretty young, they'll want to bring a stroller for when he/she falls asleep -- though the sidewalks are a pain, so if it were me I'd just bring a carrier.

June will be coming into winter, so weather can be very iffy. If I were them I'd change to early May or April if possible.

Day out in Tigre on the boats, the zoos here are great, there's a children's museum. But at 1.5 the child is still going to be pretty young, it's not really about entertainmeant directed specifically at him/her so much as taking breaks from whatever activities you're doing so the child doesn't get bored and cranky. Buenos Aires has cafes on pretty much every corner and loads of plazas/parks to enjoy. If they are able to come a bit earlier in the year the weather will be much better and they'll be able to take more advantage. June can be rainy and you'll end up stuck indoors at shopping malls etc.

I agree in that there is a lot to do for children in the city. The only thing that I have to add is to consider how the family will be traveling in the city and whether they will be using a stroller. A lot of sidewalks are not stroller friendly and there will be a lot of walking for a 1.5 year old. Also, the city is not necessarily child safe or people safe as far as safety hazards.
