Whether you’re in Buenos Aires short or long term, I can teach you the embrace, posture, communication and joy of tango as it is really danced in the milongas. My focus is on connection between partners and the music. Although you will learn steps and figures, they are merely the vocabulary of the dance -- not the dance itself. It is my mission to help you find the emotion and deep connection that makes tango unique and irresistible.

On a practical note, I am Argentine and speak fluent English and Japanese. I teach in a bright, modern studio located within a period building in a lovely part of San Telmo. My rates are very competitive. Please refer to my website for further information and student testimonials.

My boyfriend and I took tango with Alejandro for three months and loved it. We had tried group classes at DNI before but just couldn't get into it. Happily we then found Alejando (actually through someone on the forum). He is encouraging yet calm in classes, helped us understand the music and dance of tango, and instilled confidence in us even though we were just beginners. And he took us to our first milonga to teach us the ropes.

We're back in the US now and planning to continue tango since we enjoyed it so much. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

With 48 5-star reviews on TripAdvisor, in bilingual private lessons in Boedo, Ruben and I teach social tango as it is danced in the milongas of Buenos Aires. We don't teach patterns or steps, but tango based on the music, embrace, connection, improvisation, sensuality, and elegance. We have six years experience as a BsAs teaching couple, but Ruben is a "milonguero viejo" who has been dancing in the milongas all of his life.

Why take a tango class with Ruben y Cherie? We offer the unique service of bilingual instruction, along with an Argentine's knowledge and experience and an American's point of view. Ruben and I have been teaching together since 2006, when we were Finalists in the Tango Championships of Buenos Aires. The big plus for the student is that we are a team of two teachers, so there is one to dance with and one to instruct and correct. Time spent with us is fun, educational, and a window into the world of the milongas. Normally tourists don't ever get to know a milonguero or the world he lives in due to access and language.

I find it rude and unprofessional to hijack someone's thread to promote your own lessons and book. The lack of taste in your post speaks for itself.

Sylvie, I didn't know that this was a private thread; I thought it was for anyone interested in learning the true tango of Buenos Aires as well as discussion about tango classes. Mea Culpa.
