After watching YouTube video of Big Brown just blow away the competition coming around the last turn, I thought that it would be fun to go to the Hipodromo and watch the race on a live simulcast. Maybe even place a bet.
My question is: Does the Hipodromo broadcast simulcasts of the Triple Crown races?
Here's the YouTube link (the explosion comes 2:56-3:03 in the video) :

The Preakness was shown live at the track on Sat. at Hipo San Isidro. In fact it was part of the program as race #13. The Belmont? Call and ask or wait for the programs to hit the street.

If the Preakness was shown, I'm thinking that the Belmont HAS TO BE SHOWN!
Possibly the strongest horse since Secretariat. Big Brown is amazing and the race is the New York race. It will be the race of the year because it's BB's last race before retiring to stud (lucky guy) and he'll be going up against a Japanese champion who hasn't raced in the first two of the Triple Crown.
This will literally be the Race of the Year in the WORLD for 2008. Not just in the USA. So I think that I'll be at the Hipodromo for the first time. It should be fun.

I was going to post something about this. I'm definitely trying to watch the race, and I'd rather just go to a sports bar, but this might be the best option. If enough people get interested we could do an Expat Belmont Party or something.
I'm also not buying into the "this is THE ONE" hype about Big Brown. We heard the same thing about War Emblem, Funny Cide, and Smarty Jones in 2002, 2003, 2004 and even about Barbaro before his mishap. It happens every time a horse wins 'em both. They come up with ALL the reasons in the world why this horse will be the one, but it never is...at least not in my lifetime.

But will I watch, you bet your *ss I will... It will be the first year in five years I didn't go to the actual race, which makes the whole thing sting even more.

I meant to look into this earlier, but after what my fluent Spanish speaking from went through, I know that there was nothing I could have done.
1) Races are going on at the Hippodromo today from 2pm until 10pm.
2) The BELMONT STAKES is at ~6:00pm Buenos Aires time.
3) Admission is FREE
4) I've been told that they do NOT serve alcohol on race day.

I'm going over with an Italian friend and maybe a couple of other Americans will meet us there. It could be fun.

The Belmont is not part of the program as was the Preakness. Preakness was held on a live racing day at Hipo San Isidro, not Palermo. No mention of the Belmont on the online programs. Liquor served after the last race in the casino downstairs.

Is there a casino at the San Isidro track. Also if the minimum bet is 2 pesos why was I told that a SHOW bet is 6 pesos?

There is not a casino at hipo San Isidro nor is there any restriction to buying hard beverages during the races. There is no wager offered at any of the 3 largest tracks in Argentina that requires a BASE bet over 5 pesos.
