Lamarque, I went there a cpl of months ago with the mrs just to get away and relax. We stayed at the Sheraton which in my opinion was really good. It was great to get out of the city and wind down. I thought the place is cute, but to be honest wasnt overly impressed.

I imagine its better in summer. Maybe if you started a remis business and undercut the prices of those that are going. Costs are ridiculous of taxis n remises there, couldnt believe it.

There's isn't much to do there... so perhaps some type of attraction or entertainment spot?

VERY true. If you go on the day trip and schedule for the late boat, you will be bored to tears.

A very nice B&B for romantic people spending just two days in this lovely village/small city, with premium sheets & mattresses and everything of an exceptional quality. (goal being eventually to attract foreign "visa runners" and incite them to spend a night = offer them some additional activities/entertainments in the outskirts and you could get a good proportion of foreign customers).

Plus a cozy & very fine restaurant (go for French/Italian/Spanish mediterranean food) since I never found a really nice restaurant in Colonia (went there less than 10 times though).

I wouldn't mind living in Colonia, lovely place.

A rowdy Mexican Resto-Cantina for the hundreds of European boozers employed by the new paper-mill being built 60 kmts west of Colonia .Free Guacamole, hot salsa and tortillas  Mariachis and señoritas..!

No air-con or electronic technicians and instalers are available.

But do you think that there is enought people in colonia for a new restaurant or romantic hotel or any of the other ideas proposed? I have never been in colonia just triying to get as much info as posible :) Thank to all for the help

Luxury/quality always sell. There's a casino in Colonia, so likely it attracts people ready to spend money.
I guess we are quite a few on this forum who spent a romantic weekend in Colonia?
As for the restaurants, the best one I tried is facing the harbour: was ok but quite pricey for the quality (with a total lack of charm).

Anyway, aside of eating & sleeping, what could be offered in Colonia?
