What Is Your Political Orientation?
  • statism
  • In political science, statism is the belief that the state should control either economic or social policy, or both, to some degree.
from Wikipedia

In my opinion a more accurate definition is:
  • In political science, statism is the belief that the state should control either economic or social policy, or both, to a large degree.

Having lived for years in Communist Poland and experiencing the day to day existence of its impact on the population, I often ask why self-proclaimed Marxists-Leninists are NOT living in North Korea or Cuba with a passport of those countries stadning in line for the bare basics in life rather than often preaching from those horrible "capitilst" countries?? " Practice what you preech" is my moto!

Many times these Marxist-Leninists earn a good living and retirement income in capitalist countries and then come to poorer countries preaching the benefits of Marxism. I think it is overly cynical to believe they do this just to keep their cost of living low by keeping people in the poverty that invariably occurs under Marxism. I think the explanation has more to do with simple ignorance and stupidity.

Cristina's new "Minister of Thought" ( http://www.buenosairesherald.com/article/161518/the-lord-high-philosopher ) said statism is good. Has to be true.

The only true Marxist/Leninists I've ever found are the Boards of Directors of major corporations and banks. They insist on constant subsidies from the Nanny State for their enterprises and are the most consistent believers/participants in class warfare.

Good Lord...

I'm a democratic socialist because I believe communism is inefficient and leads to concentrated wealth among the ruling elite and I'm a civil libertarian.. I voted socialist for the poll, some of my friends are out there super left Marxists/Communists and knowing their believes and my degree being in Political Science I don't know if it is something funny or depressing that as someone who apparently lived in Poland during the USSR times you actually believe/think thatNorth Korea, Cuba, and the former USSR states were communist nations.

Equal distribution of wealth: no
Open dialogue of state affairs: no
Workers' committees: no
State atheism: no
Fair and equal treatment of minorities: no
Planed economy: yes
Single party state: yes

Need I say more? The only communist nations that ever existed to date were several Pre-Columbian Native American tribes.

Here's a hyperbole that's actually accurate: Love capitalism and hate the statism? Live in Somalia. Your
money can get you whatever you want there.

Secretary of Coordination of Strategic Planning for National Thought

This sounds vaguely Orwellian.

More Like Fahrenheit 454? the Secretary will decide what books follow the National Thought the others will be burnt?

Statism is a slippery slope. A little government is good so more must be better ...

Few even know what capitalism is, it hasn't been practiced in a long time. What we see around us now is mostly some degree of fascism.

Your anthropology is bad, but it's true that Somalia is the ultimate libertarian dream.
