A 2026 update on comparing the options: on 8 Nov 2026 (around 9:00 BA time) dolarapi lists MEP at 1,560 buy / 1,588 sell, official at 1,520 / 1,570 and a separate "tarjeta" reference at 1,976 / 2,041. Cash dollars at exchange houses were quoted between 1,515 and 1,555 pesos each. I do not know which of these rates a given Wise payment ends up using, so the simplest test is to look at what your statement shows in pesos for a payment and divide it by the dollars charged. If it is near the MEP/cash range, the card is fine; if it is much closer to the "tarjeta" figure, cash exchange is the better route. The numbers move daily, so repeat the check before a bigger purchase.
