Xendpay

Never heard of it until you posted that. But they may be relatively honest - they don't seem to send to Argentina, probably because of all the problems getting money here legally and inexpensively. Heh.

seems they are shirt sponsors for Birmingham City - well that's reassuring

They are the sponsors of the Blues! - I sent money to Rosario but in to dollars instead of Pesos. There were a few security checks (understandably) but overall it was a pretty good service. Look up RationalFX - they are the people behind xendpay and seem like a pretty big company, i plan to use them again soon.

What kind of account did you send it to? Was it to your own or the account of an Argentine citizen? And when you sent dollars, did they convert them into pesos upon arrival, and if so what rate did they give you?

bhamrick, but do you have a UK-based account as the source account? It seems from reading the site that might be a requirement.
And I gather it was not a cash pickup?
With the uncertainty of things, if Xoom gets blocked in Argentina, maybe this service will be working. Xoom requires US-based source accounts, it seems Xendpay is a UK version of that?
Assuming no more Xoom and their giving of pesos at a good rate, if you could still get ahold of dollars within Argentina and then convert by way of a cambio, then you'd still have a good exchange rate going compared to the official one when using ATM machines.
It's shaky ground that Xoom is the seemingly only good method for a nice exchange rate if a person does not have a local account for utilizing other means.

.

Argento, i have a UK account but on xendpay i was given a list of banks i could send the money to so i think they have accept different accounts. I remember a french and spanish bank being on there if i needed to send Euros.

I was sending from the UK to a santander account and exchanging pounds for dollars - which they have a really good rate for. Xenpay told me that if i needed pesos i would need to check with santander about what rate they give me and wasnt controleld by them. They were pretty honest in telling me about all of the problems i might have but i havnt had too many so far!
