I think that, in general, Colombian people are a lot warmer than Argentines. Just keep your wits about you and you'll be fine in Colombia. Sure from reading messages here, many people don't feel safe in BA.

How much money would it cost to bribe a senior official to help one obtain a longterm visa?

What about paying a senior official to help you obtain a long-term visa? I know it's not very ethical but under the circumstances, it may be worthwhile.

By paying a senior official can your application for residency be fastracked? I realise that it's not ethical but if all other options fail, it may be worthwhile.

Hi Saltshaker, The 1,000 pesos/month for a shared apartment in San Telmo is inclusive of bills etc. You said that 1,000 seems expensive. Perhaps I should have shopped around more. From your experience, what's the average cost of a shared apartment in San Telmo? Suerte.

Hi KatherineAnn, Many thanks for your post! I meant pesos and I've modified my first post. It's good to hear that I should be able to survive on 2,200 pesos/month. 30 pesos for a decent meal sounds extremely reasonable! I'm really excited now about making the move!
