    Cost of Living

I plan on teaching English for a few hours/week. Initially I was going to teach full-time but from reading many posts here, it appears to be more hassle than it's worth, and doesn't pay particularly well. So a few hours of teaching privately would supplement my $2,700 pesos nicely. Suerte.

    Cost of Living

Hi, A lot of people have recently mentioned that inflation in BA is a growing problem. I'm just wondering whether, due to the global recession, if the cost of certain living expenses has gone down in BA? Here in Europe renting is over 20% cheaper than it was last year. Supermarkets are also...

    Argentina vs Colombia?

I think that, in general, Colombian people are a lot warmer than Argentines. Just keep your wits about you and you'll be fine in Colombia. Sure from reading messages here, many people don't feel safe in BA.

    Residency?

Hi All, I realise that residency has already been discussed several times. I plan on staying in BA for at least 3 years. The thought of having to go to Uruguay every 90 days isn't appealing. I'm just wondering about paying an official to obtain residency. Has anybody else explored this, and...

How much money would it cost to bribe a senior official to help one obtain a longterm visa?

    What are my visa options?

What about paying a senior official to help you obtain a long-term visa? I know it's not very ethical but under the circumstances, it may be worthwhile.

    What are my visa options?

By paying a senior official can your application for residency be fastracked? I realise that it's not ethical but if all other options fail, it may be worthwhile.

    Cost of living?

Hi KatherineAnn, Many thanks for your post! I meant pesos and I've modified my first post. It's good to hear that I should be able to survive on 2,200 pesos/month. 30 pesos for a decent meal sounds extremely reasonable! I'm really excited now about making the move!

    salaries

If it's any consolation, growing inflation is a worldwide phenomenon. In England and Ireland, the cost of electricity and gas will increase by 40% over the next 6 months! The cost of petrol and car taxation have already risen significantly. However, these rises are certainly not being reflected...

    salaries

Hi RWS, Thanks for your post. I realise that in general Latin America isn't a place to make money. But I'm just curious to hear from people living there who are on salaries of 4,000 pesos/month- what type of lifestyle can you have? I'm very interested to know. Gracias, Paul

    salaries

Wow, I'm shocked to hear that a Finance Specialist with 3 - 5 years experience would only earn an average of 4,000 Pesos monthly. I'm probably comparing this to the European rate of pay, but even still, it seems to be extremely low. In light of growing inflation in Argentina, would it not make...

    Argentina for Gay Expats

Hi Everyone, I received a number of private posts, in which the senders said that BA isn't a great place for gay people. I'm confused since BA is being labelled as the new gay capital of South America. Is this just a marketing ploy? Don't get me wrong, I don't want to live in a place that's...

Hi, I'm an English guy and I'm thinking of going to live in Buenos Aires. I wonder if anyone can let me know what Buenos Aires is like for gay expats? From what I've read it's a very cosmopolitan city. But what's it like to live there as a gay person? Thanks in advance Paul
