    Newcomer beginning to have doubts

Sue, where are you doing your TEFL Cert course and will they be able to help you find work? If it's someone like International House they'll have lots of schools and companies approaching them for teachers. However what worries me most of all is that you already have doubt. BsAs isn't the sort...

Going to Uruguay to renew visa

OK taking everybody's advice, plus my own preferences, into account, I'll go to Uruguay as it'll be my first time there anyway and it'll be a day out, and if I don't get a fresh 90 day stamp on my return I'll go to migraciones and get an extension. It will be my first and last visa extension...

Going to Uruguay to renew visa

Hey Surfing I was only referring to one responder's negative response due to my poor use of words. I'm very grateful for your advice - thank you :-)

Going to Uruguay to renew visa

Well, like I said, I apologise for my sloppy use of vocabulary, and me being an English teacher too! But anyone would have known what I meant, and could have responded on that basis and not on the 'literal meaning' basis.

Going to Uruguay to renew visa

Steve thank you for that very useful answer, and forgive me if I've used the wrong technical vocabulary but my understanding was that if I go to Uruguay I'll get a fresh 90 day stamp on my passport when I re-enter Argentina. Are you telling me this has never been the case? I do know people who...

Going to Uruguay to renew visa

There's been a few posts which suggest that going to Uruguay to renew your 90 day visa for Argentina is becoming less of an option due to a crackdown. Can anyone shed any light on this? Also, if it is still possible, when is the best time to go in relation to the expiry date? Thanks

    Residency

Change in the law? I was planning on going to Uruguay in 2 weeks time to renew my Argentina visa. This would be my first time as I only arrived in March. Can I not do this now?

    Trip to San Isidro

There are only 3 or 4 ticket booths for San Isidro/Tigre so it's quite a small area. There'll be a small group of us, just three probably. I'll be wearing a black jacket and I'm...well...short of hair-ok, bald :-) and late fifties. The other two will be ladies. Hope to see you tomorrow.

Airport arrival instructions SAFE CAB & CASH - true story!

I used Manuel Tienda Leon when I arrived here in March (my first time) You can book the bus at the airport and for a small extra fee, when you get to their terminal (which by the way is exclusively their's) they'll take you on to your hotel in a minibus. I was 100% happy with the service from them.

    Taking pesos out of Argentina

I don't want to destabilise Argentina, I only want to buy my son a wedding present. Buying dollars or euros here sounds like good advice. Thanks

    Taking pesos out of Argentina

Does anyone know how many pesos I can take out of Argentina, or better, are there any ways I can transfer pesos to an account in the UK or Europe? I know it's not possible with Western Union. I live and work here but have to go to UK in August for my son's wedding.

What's a reasonable price to pay for a shared flat in Montserrat?

Mmm..mixed messages! The rent will be fixed until the end of the year, and as I said in a previous post, to all intents and purposes I have the place to myself as my flatmate only stays one night per week. I saw the bills for last month and they were over AR$1000 and this month are 568. All in...

What's a reasonable price to pay for a shared flat in Montserrat?

There are two of us in the flat, and I have a room to myself. The other occupant only spends a night or two a week there so much of the time I have the place to myself.

    Moving soon!!

When I move to another country without a job or accommodation pre-arranged I reckon on taking enough money to last me at least 2 months including rent, plus an extra amount for a deposit and a airfare contingency fund should things not work out. That would work out at about US$3000 but you'd be...
