Reporting contact with an international fugitive in BA?

Exactly!!!! This guy, Mike Nemetski (or whatever is name is) had been posting open job positions for his call center on the Cordoba Expats facebook page. I just met a girl this weekend who had been working for him. She said that the pay was promised to be $3500, then turned out to be much...

Buenos Aires is not the Only City in Argentina!

As far as Cordoba, I only know about 2 year leases with guarantees. I live in Barrio Cofico, which is an upper-class neighborhood about 10 blocks from Centro. I rent a 2 bedroom house for 2200 pesos. An average two bedroom apartment in the same neighborhood would be about 1800. Centro might...

    Pluna is out of business

Aerolineas only honored the tickets in very specific situations - if you were already in transit by Thursday, and were coming home by today at the latest, then Aerolineas would honor the Pluna ticket, but only for this three day window. I had a Pluna flight to leave on Saturday morning and got...

Buenos Aires is not the Only City in Argentina!

Hi Cordobese! I have lived in Cordoba now for over two years and I am quite happy here. The city has it's problems, and I consider it very dirty, but its big enough to not get bored - lots of cultural activities, mountains nearby, diverse dining options, and a young vibrant population...

Do you wear a diamond engagement ring?

Update - I'm married but not wearing the engagement ring, just the gold band. I guess if I had a different lifestyle, if I wasn't walking at night by myself, wasn't hopping around from place to place on my bike, or living in an urban barrio full of motochurros, then perhaps I would think...

Pluna airlines is closing - tomorrow

FYI - you can apply for a visa to Brazil at the consulate in Cordoba. It took five days to process my paperwork. You do not need an appointment, just arrive with all the proper documents and they will give you the form to pay at the bank.

    Spices in Argentina

Hi Canadien, I also get cumin seeds here, no problem, in various places. Did you end up bringing your bike to Argentina? How did it go in customs? I don't know if you ever saw my reply to your bike post (it was a week late or so) but I am pretty into cycling here as well. Good luck with the...

    Spices in Argentina

Same as in BA, you will find a much better selection of spices in dieteticas in Cordoba. I can find most of these spcies at small dieteticas in my Barrio, Alta Cordoba. For a bigger selection, I like EcoCentro, which has locations in Centro on Santa Rosa, entre Rivera y San Martin or on Tucuman...

Special Educational Support in BA for 8 year old

I have been diagnosed ADHD and learned the hard way that adderall is not available as a prescription here. If your son takes adderall, I would stock up before you come. A previous thread on this - http://baexpats.org/expat-life/17913-adderall-argentina.html

Cordoba vs Rosario vs Mendoza vs BA ?

Welcome to Argentina! I have lived in Cordoba for a little over two years now, and I like it. It's a big dirty college town, so there are lots of cultural activities, nightlife, and organizations to participate in. The Cordobese are welcoming, and as there is not too much international...

    Food coloring anyone?

I second using natural dyes for the eggs! Last year I used natural dyes, which worked beautifully. The best were red cabbage for a brilliant blue, beets for purple, and turmeric for yellow. Spinach came out brown, but a got a great turquoise when I double dipped the egg, first in turmeric...

Do you wear a diamond engagement ring?

Thanks for all the feedback, ladies. I would definitely be crushed if the ring was stolen...That was a good idea about getting a smaller ring just so you feel comfortable wearing it around town.

Do you wear a diamond engagement ring?

Hello ladies - I have plans to marry an Argentinian in the coming year and settle down in the city of Cordoba. On a recent trip back to the States, my mom gave me her diamond engagement ring to wear. It's just one small diamond on a thin gold band, nothing flashy, but it's still much larger...

Looking for Experienced and Certified Native English Teacher

Nothing against the poster at all, but I really feel that $40 an hour is horribly low for an in-company english class taught by a native english speaker. Is this still the going rate in BA for english teacher pay at an institute? I live in Cordoba, and this year, Argentine english teachers...

    Road Cycling in Córdoba

I'm a cyclist in Cordoba. Here are some links to cycling and bicycle advocacy groups in the area: http://ikers.com.ar/ http://www.biciurbanos.blogspot.com/ and http://masacriticacba.com.ar/ I was huge road biker in the States, mainly a commuter, but found lots of time for epic weekend...

    Train to Tucuman et al.

I have taken the train from Cordoba to Villa Maria (about 4 hours south via train) a few times in the last few years. My general impression was that it is not as comfortable or as smooth a ride as Amtrak, in the USA (my only other train experience). The view is much more interesting than the...

    Hiking el Cerro Champaqui, Cordoba

Thanks for the update! It looks like a great trip. Was there any fee to climb Champaqui, ie, is it private land? I love the Sierras, but it bothers me to no end that it is $40 to climb Mt. Uritorco near Campilla de Monte, which is the 2nd highest peak in the Sierras.
