    In defense of Milei

Totally right Redlobster. I expect Lisandra to be the typical right wing American, who doesn't have the slightest idea what she's talking about when marking governments and political parties as being 'socialist'.

Asking recommendations about Portfolio Personal Inversiones

Segregation of assets is obligatory by law in a lot of countries, to protect clients. This can for instance be done by setting up a separate legal entity that holds all securities of investors. I am not talking about an entity per investor. I am asking these questions because I don't know how's...

Asking recommendations about Portfolio Personal Inversiones

Adding to this question: what are the best investment accounts / banks in Argentina to use to manage a (passive) portfolio of investments (e.g.: MSCI World tracker, some Mix fund, maybe some (government) bonds, some cash? And is there protection in case of bankrupcy in Argentina, by separating...

    Dollar Blue exchange rate movement?

Just some general remarks. It seems you deliberately added valuta risk to your buying price. By nature, that type of risk can go two ways, you can gain or lose, and you won't know which one till the end. Now, I think the first question you have to ask yourself is: Am I financially comfortable...

Statement of Tax Liability in Argentina needed

Tax residency in my situation won't be a big issue. The moment I pass my permanent residence (married to an Argentine woman), we will already own a house together in Argentina, and no home in NL. The only connection that will remain with NL is the pension being paid on a Dutch bank account.

Statement of Tax Liability in Argentina needed

That's my reading of the tax treaty, yes. But professionally I am very used in reading laws etc. Thanks anyway, I will double check and if I am not sure, will rely on professionals.

Statement of Tax Liability in Argentina needed

Thanks Antipodean! This is exactly what I was looking for!

Statement of Tax Liability in Argentina needed

Thanks Steve and Alby! The Tax Treaty says the following: 1. Employee/employer pension from Holland will be taxed in the country of residence (which will be Argentina). (note: Argentina taxes 'worldwide income') 2. State pension is taxed in Holland, even though my country of residence will be...

Statement of Tax Liability in Argentina needed

Hi all! In the not so far future I want to make sure that my foreign pension won't be taxed in the origin country (in Europe) before being paid out to me. I am going to live in Argentina and want to be taxed in Argentina on worldwide income. To prevent taxation in my previous European...

Using Wise to deposit dollars in a USD bank account of house seller in Arg?

I need to find out how that is for a European Bank. I am not so much worried about the fee, more about the exchange rate EUR/USD they will use.

Using Wise to deposit dollars in a USD bank account of house seller in Arg?

Because Wise is cheaper. Note: in the meantime I have found out that Wise doesn't offer their services yet to Argentina. They mention they are working on it. :-(

Using Wise to deposit dollars in a USD bank account of house seller in Arg?

Hi! Likely in Nov we will buy a house in Capital Federal. The money will come from a EUR bank account. The owner of the house has a USD account at BBVA Argentina and has contacted the bank to check on possibilities and requirements to receive dollars without pesification. From my side I have...

AFIP will control your expenses in May: from what amounts should your bank report

Steve - did you deliberately mention 'pension funds' (assets) instead of 'pension income'?

    Boise, Idaho anyone?

Nikad. I am also one of those who really liked the quality of your posts here. One question relating your emigration from Argentina: why the US? Did you ever consider Europe?

    New mandate re money transfers?

The basic rule: when you are a tax resident in Argentina, Argentina taxes wordwide income, which will in general include pension income. Until now I have not seen any Argentine law that explicitly states that a foreign pension is not seen as taxable income, On a personal level, it is necessary...

Milei is well qualified and succeeding as president of Argentina

I see a president that is only focusing on a very limited, ideology driven agenda. He has no interest in any negative side-effects of his policies whatsoever. For example: https://www.ambito.com/economia/empresario-pyme-advierte-si-seguimos-asi-vamos-al-cierre-n6003139.

Milei is well qualified and succeeding as president of Argentina

Negative economic growth (-8,4% YOY). Job loss: > 100.000 (up to March). Increase of poverty levels (55% of Argentines, Q1 2024). Name me anything positive so far. Where's that quick recovery Milei was promising? The truth is that it's nowhere in sight. The economy is spiralling down. And Milei...

Milei is well qualified and succeeding as president of Argentina

I beg your pardon? Milei well qualified?? You can't measure the success of economic policy by only looking at inflation numbers. Milei is not the head of the ECB, he's heading a government for God's sake! And that inflation is going down (after sky high inflation numbers because of Milei in...

Who has left or is planning to leave?

With respect to the rise of the cost of living for people with foreign income, last month I made a quick and rough comparison between april 2023 and april 2024. Note: from the perspective of someone who has an income in Euros, not in USD. For prices in pesos I used the official inflation rate...
